Upcycle

Hey there Earth Girls, Tula Toned here! I’m always daring to try new things like turning my old stuff into something NEW! This is called upcycling.

I turned 2 old tank tops into one stellar top by cutting one into strips and sewing it to the collar of the other. I added beads to the ends of each strip to make it extra cosmic! It looks a little something like this.

A pair of jeans can become upcycled easily. When there are holes in the legs cut them into capris or shorts. With some needle and thread you can dare to go further and turn jeans into a skirt or even a purse!

Next time you think about tossing out an old fashion piece think about how you can turn it into something new. Remember to ask your parents first before cutting or sewing anything!

What would you upcycle?

Electronic Waste

Hi Stars, Mae Tallick blogging today! We all know that we should recycle cans, plastics bottles and paper but did you know you can recycle electronics? Don’t toss old batteries, cell phones or other electronic gadgets straight in the trash because they can totally be recycled!

Since electronics don’t breakdown in landfills its cosmic cool to either donate or find an e-waste recycle location. Just imagine your old cellphone or TV going to someone in need or being remade into something new, that’s stellar!

We Love Earth

Happy Earth Day! Alie Lectric here to tell you that we are SO excited to show how much we love Earth all week long! At school we learned the story of Earth Day. Here are a few things I want to share with you.

The very first Earth Day officially happened on April 22, 1970 in the United States.

Today over 192 different countries celebrate Earth Day!

People use this special day as a way to remind others of keeping Earth a clean and healthy place for all.

How do you show your love for Earth?

Earth Week — Next Week!

Hello Stars it’s Alie Lectric! We love Earth SO much! When we heard about Earth Day coming up on Monday we had to make it into a whole week of Earth loving fun! We’re going to share with you all kinds of cosmic cool ways to show your love for planet Earth. We’ll have eco-friendly living tips and projects for you to do with us.

Want to help us get ready? What are some things we should do for Earth Week?

Lava Lamps

Hi Stars, Tula Toned here! So check it out—I got this cosmic cool looking thing called a lava lamp. I absolutely love it! It looks stellar next to my glitter lamp. I bet you can guess why I like the lava lamp so much—the goo inside reminds me of the space goo in my legs! Totally COSMIC!!

I like it when I find stuff on Earth that looks like it could be from space. What other Earth things seem totally out of this world?!

Spring Cleaning

Hey there Stars, Malie Tasker writing in the Star Log today. You know how I love to multitask so when I heard about spring cleaning I totally got into it! I decided to clean out my backpack and get reorganized for school. Here are some of my backpack spring cleaning tips:

  1. Store old papers – Don’t let old school work weigh your backpack down! Decorate an old shoebox and use it to store old papers you want to hold onto. When the school year is over toss them in the recycle bin.
  2. Use pouches – Buy a few pencil pouches and use them to stash things. One pencil pouch for the essentials like pencils, pens and erasers. Use another for other things you like to carry in your backpack like lip gloss and hair ties. This way all you always know where to find stuff and it’s not floating around in your backpack.
  3.  Backpack station – At home create a backpack station. Ask your parents to help put a hook on the wall for your backpack and another hook for your sweater. Everyday put your stuff there so you’re never rushing around to find it in the morning!

Do you have any stellar spring cleaning tips for me?

Spring Break Fun

Hi Earth Girls, Sila Clops here! Is anyone else on Spring Break right now like we are? Last week we had a ton of fun at the beach but this week we’re at home doing lots of astro-awesome stuff. I made a list of fun stuff to do at home if you’re at home for spring break too!

  1. Read books and magazines – I took a trip to the library to pick up all the stellar mags and books I don’t have time to read while I’m in school.
  2. Play board games – I invited all the girls over for a game day. We got all these cosmic cool Earth board games, made some snacks and just had fun playing all day!
  3. Movie night – Since we don’t have school we’ve had lots of sleep overs at our friends’ houses. We watch our favorite movies all night and give each other makeovers!
  4. Plant a garden – Since it is spring and the weather is stellar we decided to plant a garden! Spending the day out in the sunshine catching some cosmic rays while chatting and planting is SO cosmic fly.
  5. Play sports – Again, stellar weather means spending time outside! We spent a day out at the park playing different sports like softball, soccer and tennis. Even if we’re not all good at every sport it’s still fun to try!

What are some other fun things we could do while spending spring break at home?

Siblings Day

Cici Thru here—and Gail Lexi!

Cici: We’re blogging together today because it’s Siblings Day. Since we’re sisters we get to spend a lot of time together. It’s like having a built in best friend, LOL! Sometimes we fight like when Gail borrows my Stellar Skinz without asking…

Gail: Hey! You do it too! Um—anyway, we forgive and forget because we’re sisters and that’s what sisters do! I like having a sister because we can trade outfits, fix each other’s hair before leaving the house and help each other out at home.

Do you have any siblings? If not, do you have a best friend that feels like a sibling to you?

April Showers

Hi Stars, Mae Tallick blogging today with a cosmic experiment for you to try! We heard one of our teachers say this cosmic cute saying, “April Showers bring May flowers.” When we asked what it meant she said that in certain parts of Earth in the month of April it rains a lot and then in May flowers sprout from the ground and Earth becomes green and full of life!

We did this experiment to try to figure out why it rains on Earth. This experiment works because the hot water turns into steam and stays trapped at the top of the lid. When enough steam gathers at the top of the lid the cold from the ice causes it to turn back into water—RAIN!

This is like Earth’s rain cycle. Water from the planet evaporates up into the clouds and gathers then becomes cold and forms water drops. That is called condensation. When enough water is stored it rains!

I love learning about how Earth works, it’s SO cosmic cool! What’s the weather like where you live right now?

Beach Games

Hey there Earth Girls, Alie Lectric here writing on the Star Log from the beach! I’m just taking a break from all the fun we’re having on Spring Break to give you an update on what we’ve been up to!

We were busy all day playing fun beach games like volley ball, Frisbee, wave jumping and sand castle building. Volley ball is hard to play in the sand but it was so fun! Our Frisbee throwing contest was stellar.  We all tried to see who could throw it the farthest!

Wave jumping was so cosmic cool—we tried to jump as high as we could when the waves reached our feet! The last thing we’re doing today is sand castle building. We brought different sized buckets to make towers. We’re even going to build a moat around it!

What fun things do you do at the beach?
